Making a water-based acrylic adhesive for kinds of labels involves formulating a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) that adheres well to BOPP film or Thermal Paper.
How to make Acylic water based adheisve/ glue for labels:
A.Materials Needed:

Acrylic Emulsion (e.g., a self-crosslinking acrylic copolymer like Acronal® NX 4610 or Duro-Tak® 87-2516) – 100 parts

Tackifier Resin Dispersion (e.g., Escorez® 5637 or Sylvatac® RE 100) – 10-30 parts (improves adhesion)

Plasticizer (e.g., Dipropylene Glycol Dibenzoate or Polyethylene Glycol 400) – 0-5 parts (optional, for flexibility)

Wetting Agent (e.g., Triton™ X-100 or Dynol™ 604) – 0.1-0.5 parts (helps coating)

Thickener (e.g., Acrysol™ RM-8W or Bentonite clay) – as needed (adjusts viscosity)

Defoamer (e.g., BYK-024 or Foamaster® 111) – 0.1-0.3 parts (prevents bubbles)

Ammonia Solution (25%) – to adjust pH (~8-9)

Deionized Water – for dilution (if needed)
B: Procedure:

Prepare the Acrylic Emulsion Base:

Pour 100 parts acrylic emulsion into a mixing container.

Add Tackifier Dispersion:

Slowly add 10-30 parts tackifier resin dispersion while stirring (0-80 RPM).

Adjust Adhesive Properties:

Add plasticizer (if needed) for flexibility.

Add 0.1-0.5 parts wetting agent to improve coating.

Add defoamer (0.1-0.3 parts) to prevent foam formation.
4. Adjust pH & Viscosity:

Check pH (should be 8-9). If too low, add ammonia solution.

If too thick, dilute with deionized water.

If too thin, add thickener (e.g., 0.2-1% Acrysol™ RM-8W).
5. Mixing & Degassing:

Stir for 30-60 mins to ensure homogeneity.

Let it sit for 1-2 hours to release trapped air.

Coating on BOPP Film or thermal paper:

Apply the adhesive using a Meyer rod, knife coater, or roll coater (wet coating thickness ~20-50 µm).

Dry in an oven at 80-100°C for 2-5 mins to remove water

Check peel adhesion (180° peel test on PP surface).

Adjust tackifier or plasticizer levels if needed.
